Kelly Canyon Ski Resort, Idaho announced early Monday morning that they are officially closed for this winter, reports eastidahonews.com.

“Due to a lack of snow and deteriorating conditions, we are closed for the season. We look forward to the 2018-2019 season and hope for better weather conditions,” says a recording on the resort’s phone line.

Kelly Canyon, Idaho received only 22 inches of snow in January compared to 45 inches in Jan. 2017. The snow that has fallen is melting rapidly because of warmer weather conditions.

Although they did receive some snow, the ski area said the weather has made it “nearly impossible to safely run the groomers and to make snow,” which in turn created “unsafe skiing conditions.”

Quadkards, gift cards or vouchers purchased this year will be honored next season, according to the Kelly Facebook page.

  1. RE-OPENING ON SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 17th & MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19th, 9:30am – 9:30pm!

Hey, but great Fake News headline to push a “global warming/climate change” agenda.

    1. On 12th February their official FB page said, word for word, “Kelly Canyon is closed for the season” “unusually warm temperatures combined with the lack of snowfall”.

Straight from the horses mouth… how was that a ‘fake news’ headline?

  2. They should wait. Lots of snow in their extended forecast for the next 2 weeks, and lots of cold air.
