For anyone curious about skiing but unsure where to start, the Indy Pass just made things a whole lot easier. New this season, the Learn to Turn Pass is designed specifically for beginners or those who haven’t clicked into skis in years. It bundles everything you need to get started: three days of lift tickets, rentals, and lessons, all for just $189. The program is designed to make skiing and snowboarding accessible to beginners. The pass comes as cost has become the number one barrier to entering alpine sports, with many mega resorts requiring upwards of $300 just for lift tickets and parking before adding rental gear or lessons.

“Everyone in skiing is searching for the holy grail of skier development, and Indy Pass will attempt to move the needle by keeping it cheap, simple, and widely accessible,” said Doug Fish, Indy Pass Founder.

Available at a growing list of more than 30 independent resorts, the pass gives new skiers and riders an affordable, supportive, and low-stress introduction to the sport. Unlike single-day beginner packages, the Learn to Turn Pass includes three lessons, giving participants the time to build real confidence and skills on the snow. Passholders can redeem their three days at the same resort or spread them across different Indy partners, offering flexibility for both local learners and those looking to combine lessons with travel.

Those with a Learn to Turn pass (or any Indy Pass) also get exclusive access to a list of lodging deals throughout the winter season, further reducing the cost of skiing and riding. Note that some blackout dates apply, certain resorts require advanced reservations, and the pass is available to those six years of age and older.

The three all-inclusive days can be used across any of the participating resorts listed below:

East Coast

Big Rock, Maine; Black Mountain, New Hampshire; Bolton Valley, Vermont; Bousquet Mountain, Massachusetts; Centre Vorlage, Quebec; Dartmouth Skiway, New Hampshire; Greek Peak, New York; Hunt Hollow Ski Club, New York; Jay Peak, Vermont; Maple Ski Ridge, New York; Massif du Sud, Quebec; Mt. Abrams, Maine; Pats Peak, New Hampshire; Ski Big Bear at Masthope Mountain, Pennsylvania; Tenney Mountain, New Hampshire; Titus Mountain Resort, New York; Waterville Valley, New Hampshire; and Whaleback, New Hampshire.

Midwest

Chestnut Mountain, Illinois; Christie Mountain, Wisconsin; Crystal Ridge, Wisconsin; Little Switzerland, Wisconsin; Mt. Holiday, Michigan; Nordic Mountain, Wisconsin; and Nub’s Nob, Michigan.

West

Blacktail Mountain, Montana; Bluewood, Washington; Eagle Point, Utah; Loup Loup, Washington; Manning Park, British Columbia; Soldier Mountain, Idaho; and Sunlight Resort, Colorado.

Indy emphasizes that this isn’t just about getting people on skis once but about helping them fall in love with the sport. Independent resorts tend to be friendlier, less intimidating places to learn, making them more appealing for first-timers. Families in particular may find it appealing as a cost-effective way to start a lifelong activity together.

“Jay Peak has been an Indy partner for years, and we are excited to participate in the Learn to Turn Pass,” said Steve Wright, Jay Peak GM. “While Jay Peak is known for the most snow in the East and challenging terrain, we teach hundreds of beginners each year as well, and many of them are referred to us by their Indy Pass friends who take the opportunity to come for the weekend.”

For current Indy Pass holders, there’s an extra incentive to spread the stoke. Each passholder will receive two referral codes that shave $40 off the price, lowering the cost to just $149 for friends or family members. Additionally, Indy offers a payment plan that allows you to split the cost into thirds at zero interest.

So, who is this pass for? If you’ve never skied or snowboarded, or if it’s been years since you last did, and a “first-timer” lesson makes sense, the Learn to Turn Pass is designed for you. With its mix of lessons, gear, and lift access, it’s one of the best beginner deals in skiing as well as a chance to discover what so many already know: sliding on snow is one of the purest, most exhilarating feelings you may ever experience.
