Mikaela Shiffrin made history once again on February 23, claiming her 100th World Cup victory in Sestriere, Italy—an achievement that solidifies her place among the greatest alpine skiers of all time. The milestone sent ripples through the ski and sports world, with fellow athletes, past champions, and rising stars alike reacting in awe.

From heartfelt tributes to lighthearted social media posts, competitors from across the globe shared their admiration for Shiffrin’s dominance, resilience, and the sheer magnitude of reaching triple-digit wins on the sport’s biggest stage.

Aleksander Aamodt Kilde, Norwegian ski racer and Shiffrin’s fiancé:

“Sorry Mikaela, I know you hate the GOAT talk–but sometimes your man should be allowed to brag. Today you hit your 100th World Cup victory—wow! So proud of you, and good luck to whoever dares to chase that record. But what stands out even more is the person you are every day—that’s far greater than any number of victories. As you best say yourself: «it’s just a number». On another note, I watched this from a hospital bed—just after a planned and (hopefully) my last shoulder surgery.”

Roger Federer, Swiss tennis player:

“Hi Mikaela, it’s Roger. Many congratulations also from my side. I saw your race and it was fantastic, your 100th win. It’s absolutely incredible! I don’t know how you do it…but so special, so fantastic. You’re the best and I’ve been cheering on you for so long now, so to reach a 100th title or win or race, is phenomenal. You should be so proud, your team should be so proud.”

Annemarie Moser-Pröll, retired Austrian ski racer (62 World Cup titles):

“100 World Cup victories for Mikaela; unbelievable, spectacular. She doesn’t just want to win; she blows the competition away. One thing is certain for me; Mikaela is and will remain the best ever.”

Franz Klammer, retired Austrian ski racer (25 World Cup victories):

“Just imagine going up to 100. This is in the stratosphere, it’s not in the atmosphere. It’s hard to believe that someone can do it. Her skiing is so clean. She sets an edge and she lets the ski run. Even though she is technically very precise. She has just the right mixture. She can perform in any conditions. Amazing, amazing.”

Hermann Maier, retired Austrian ski racer  with 54 World Cup victories:

“100 victories is an outstanding milestone, and not just in the history of skiing, this glamorous, incredible achievement also represents a historic event in the sports world. What also sets Mikaela apart is her naturalness, her authenticity and the joy that she radiates. This also has enormous value far beyond skiing.”

Petra Vlhova, Slovakian ski racer:

“For me, I am more than happy that I am able to compete with you, against you, to beat you, which was very nice. And hopefully it will happen again soon. It’s an amazing achievement you have accomplished for yourself and for our sport.”

Wendy Holdener, Swiss ski racer:

“The number 100 means I maybe lost 30 or 40 races myself – so really bad, but I am happy to have competed with her for those years, because she made me a better racer.”

Frida Hansdotter, Swedish ski racer:

“I will for sure tell my kids one day I beat Mikaela, once or twice! You are an absolutely amazing skier and athlete and what makes you even greater is you have a warm heart and you have always competed with class and respect.”

Marc Girardelli, retired Italian ski racer with 46 World Cup wins, five-time overall World Cup champion:

“Coming from Downhill to Slalom was a big problem for me, it’s like a 100 meter sprint and the marathon — they are so far apart. But Mikaela is a phenomenon, she does it so easily.”

Julia Mancuso, retired U.S. ski racer:

“Wow just wow. I’m trying to think of my favorite memory in @mikaelashiffrin storied career. It’s almost like it seems so easy to those of us looking up from the bench, she is so smooth, calm, collected. She always says the right things in interviews and it just seems effortless. Thats really a testament to her focus and dedication. She has an amazing team and I’ve always been impressed by her ability to stay focused on long term goals. I always thought it was more brave to sit out races and events than to just charge forward. She could have won way more races in my opinion, but maybe that would have led to more injuries or mistakes- who knows! The path of Mikaela is unique, impressive to say the least, and inspirational! Thanks for showing everyone it can be done:) and for sharing your passion by dedicating this win to those who are less fortunate! What an amazing champion!
What’s your favorite Mikaela moment? I have two- I think one of my favorite races was the Schladming World Championships slalom. That was the moment she showed the world she would be like no other champion!
Oh and also the time we tandem bungee jumped, our personalities are definitely opposite when it comes to taking risks- lol so that was fun pushing her out of her comfort zone!”
Billie Jean King, U.S. tennis player:
“100 World Cup victories? Wow, what an unbelievable achievement! Congratulations on your historic win – and keep going for it.”
Paula Moltzan, U.S. ski racer:
“I’d like to thank me for believing in me,” quoting Snoop Dogg.
