Iran’s only male athlete at the Beijing 2022 Winter Olympics has tested positive for an anabolic androgenic steroid. The positive test is the first confirmed doping case at the games.

Alpine skier Hossein Saveh Shemshaki, 36, failed a drug test on Monday in Beijing, before competing. The IOC suspended him and he is unable to participate further in these games.
This was his third Olympics. Hossein Saveh Shemshaki raced in slalom and giant slalom at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics and at Sochi in 2014, where he carried Iran’s flag at the opening.
He can appeal against his provisional ban at the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Beijing.
