For the first time this season, I felt like I was legitimately in a real winter ski area. Driving into the town of Jackson late the night before, I was blown away by the amount of snow on the ground and the scale of the mountains. The blue skis this morning only made me that much more excited to see Jackson Hole Mountain Resort for the first time. When we got to the mountain, one thought crossed my mind: This place is spectacular.

We were blessed with a beautiful bluebird day and skied on 6″ of new snow in the past 48 hours, and a whopping 423″ to date in total. Conditions were skiing great with nice chalky snow in the morning, and some spring-like corn and mashed potatoes in the afternoon if you stayed in the sunny spots. Later in the day, we lapped Thunder, Sublette and Marmot chairs to keep skiing the upper mountain snow since the bottom started getting a little too thick for our liking. Unfortunately, our local guide for the day got hurt and called it in early, so we didn’t get to venture out into the famous Jackson Hole sidecountry terrain. Hopefully we can make it happen tomorrow.

Aside from the skiing, the vibe in this whole town is amazing. Everyone seems to be very social and in the two days we’ve been here, we saw three live music acts and one hockey game with a packed house. While we sadly only have one more day in the area, thing are looking good for those who are around a bit longer. It looks like they’ve got some favorable weather right around the corner, so hopefully it won’t be too long before we return.
