Jackson Hole Press Release:

(Teton Village, WY, April 11, 2017) – Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is pleased to report a strong 2016/2017 winter season.  The resort’s 558,390 skier visits marks the third highest in Resort history, after a record-setting winter in 2014 with over 563,000 skier days.  The 2016/2017 season finished with 593 inches of total snow, and snow depths of 158 inches in Rendezvous Bowl, marking the deepest winter in the Resort’s 51-year history. “A lot of records were broken in terms of snowfall and moisture in the Tetons this year,” stated Jerry Blann, JHMR President. “With record snow depths in Rendezvous Bowl in the months of October, December, February, March and April, and February 2017 holding an all time record of total snowfall with 148 inches, the 2016/17 season was one of the all-time snowiest winters at JHMR,”  Blann went on to note.

Despite some challenges, the success of the season is attributed to many factors including record-breaking snowfall, increased air service and JHMR’s strong guest service initiatives.   “This was a memorable year for JHMR, and I am pleased with the level of service our staff was able to provide through many conditions,” Jerry Blann commented.  “From a delayed opening, to record-breaking snowfall, to an unprecedented power outage, this was a season to remember. We are very pleased to report that in addition to strong skier visitation, we’re proudest of our guest service results. Together with the Jackson Hole community, our focus has been world class guest service so we are thrilled to see our scores continue on a positive upward trend,” Blann added.

The new Sweetwater Gondola, which opened in December, was part of a broader and sustained capital investment strategy to continue to ensure a world-class experience for JHMR guests. The new Sweetwater Gondola was a very popular addition to the JHMR lift infrastructure and has supported several specific objectives including a significant increase to base area capacity. In addition, Sweetwater Gondola will eventually provide access to a new and enhanced ski school facility located in the Solitude mid station area.

Jackson Hole Mountain Resort will open the Aerial Tram for the summer season on Saturday, May 20th.  The Jackson Hole Mountain Bike Park, accessed by the Teewinot Chairlift, is scheduled to open on June 10th. And also starting on June 10th, the Bridger Gondola will be operating throughout the day and into the evenings for site seeing, hiking and dining options at Piste Mountain Bistro and The Deck.  The newest high alpine adventure at JHMR, the Via Ferrata, will be opening in mid-June.
