Jackson Hole Mountain Resort Is Now Closed After Almost 450 Inches of Snowfall Delights Visitors; Kings & Queens of Corbet’s Makes Triumphant Return.

Wyoming’s Jackson Hole Mountain Resort (JHMR) is now closed after another successful winter season, highlighted by another year of exceptional snowfall on Rendezvous Mountain, the highly anticipated debut of the new high-speed Sublette lift, and the exciting return of the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s ski and snowboard freeride invitational.

The 2024-25 winter season wrapped up on April 13 after 134 days of operation, delivering 445 inches of snowfall, highlighted by a deep February and a spring season that kept delivering. JHMR opened on November 29 with the Teewinot, Après Vous, and Sweetwater Gondola lifts running, thanks to enhanced snowmaking capacity and overnight grooming efforts. Lift openings steadily expanded through mid-December, with the Casper, Bridger Gondola, Marmot, Thunder, and Aerial Tram lifts all operating to provide guests full mountain access.

JHMR celebrated the grand opening of the new high-speed Sublette lift on December 20, ushering in a new era for guests eager to access the legendary intermediate and expert terrain below Rendezvous Bowl. The high-speed quad lift features 72 European-style comfort chairs, significantly cutting ride time in half—from eight minutes to just four—while ascending approximately 1,600 vertical feet at a rate of 1,000 feet per minute. This new lift is the latest addition to a series of major infrastructure and mountain improvements, marking the fifth new lift installed at the Resort since 2015.

JHMR also welcomed back the Kings & Queens of Corbet’s ski and snowboard freeride invitational in February, hosting 24 of the world’s top athletes at the Resort’s iconic Corbet’s Couloir. Conditions were nearly perfect as the event kicked off on the morning of February 11, just days after a winter storm blanketed the couloir with fresh powder. This year, JHMR awarded $50,000 in total prize money—the highest in the event’s history—with prizes going to the top male and female performers in both ski and snowboard categories.

JHMR utilized a reservation system and managed capacity on the mountain for the fifth consecutive year, with an advanced ticket sales system and reservations required for Ikon and Mountain Collective pass holders. These practices alleviated overcrowding and greatly improved guests’ experiences on the mountain and throughout the resort.

JHMR also began a significant leadership transition in February, announcing that CEO Mary Kate Buckley will step down on May 31 after a successful seven-year tenure leading the resort. Doug Pierini, who has served COO since July 2024, will officially take over as CEO on June 1.

“It was a wonderful season at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort, highlighting everything that makes this mountain so special. With nearly 450 inches of snowfall, shorter wait times thanks to managed capacity, and faster access across the mountain via high-speed lifts, we are proud of the guest experience that the resort was able to offer. We’re focused on building on that momentum, continuing to invest in the Resort to elevate the guest experience even further next winter,” said Doug Pierini.
