Februburied! The only way to describe the last month at Jackson Hole in Wyoming. The month, which featured the now-legendary Kings and Queens of Corbet’s, and Travis Rices’ Natural Selection tour, also happened to be the deepest February EVER. Wow…

And that’s not all… here are four stats, courtesy of the JHMR blog, to put the last month into perspective. If you were there, you know…

  • There were only four days with no fresh snow and ten days with double-digit 24-hour totals
  • 194″ of snow fell at the Raymer plot for the month, which tied the record for most snow in February at the Raymer Plot in 2019 (that’s 16 feet!)
  • In Rendezvous Bowl, 172″ of snowfall was recorded in February – that is almost 100″ more than February’s average snowfall of 75″ – Jim Woodmencey, Mountain Weather
  • February 2021 now also ranks as the third snowiest month on record, behind December 1996 with 225″ and February 2019 with 196″ – Jim Woodmencey, Mountain Weather
*All of these snow statistics are derived from daily field measurements taken by the JHMR avalanche-forecasting program in partnership with Bridger Teton National Forest Avalanche Center.
