Japan skiing is in full swing this time of year, and this season is making out to be one of the deepest years in recent history!

January in Japan is usually the deepest month of the year in which Japanese terrain gains a solid base. Snowjapan.com is showing that snowfall averages are up from last year meaning more powder days and deeper snow.

If that doesn’t convince you, the man himself Travis Rice just polished off the Freeride World Qualifier stop in Hakuba, Japan with a 96.00 run featuring a massive 720. If you didn’t see the video going viral the last few days, here it is for you. Keep in mind, you could be riding Hakuba just like Travis, you just have to get there!

Myoko alone has seen 387 cms (152 inches) this month, and it’s only mid January! Relative to last year, Myoko has already seen 120 cms more snow, and it’s just getting started!

  1. Just got back from a week in Hakuba was on the snow every day from 16th. till 21st. of January 16th. and 17th. were heavy snow days, and the day we left it was coming down hard and heavy!
