Vermont’s Jay Peak Resort continues its remarkable streak this winter, reaching the 300-inch snowfall mark faster than at any point in the past 25 years. On Sunday, the mountain received another 10 to 14 inches of fresh powder, with an additional 4 to 8 inches still forecast for tonight. Over the past week alone, Jay Peak has received 32 inches of snow, and an impressive 60 inches over the last 16 days—putting it one day ahead of the resort’s record-setting 2000–2001 season.

Nearly a month earlier, the resort celebrated another milestone by surpassing the 200-inch mark just two days before Christmas. An overnight dusting of 1 to 2 inches pushed the season total to 201 inches, marking the fastest Jay Peak has ever reached that benchmark.

The season’s strong start began back on Thanksgiving, when Jay crossed the 100-inch threshold with totals already sitting at 103 inches.

Jay Peak’s past highest season totals were 475 inches in the 2024-25 season and 491 inches in the 2016-17 season. As of January 26, Jay has 300 inches, and its season typically lasts until mid-May. That gives the resort a lot of time to possibly chase history to beat the 2016-17 season totals.

JayPeak is the snowiest resort in the entire western hemisphere and, outside Japan, the snowiest in the world.

Elsewhere in North America, Alyeska in Alaska, typically the snowiest resort, has seen 234″, and Mt. Baker, which holds the record for the world’s snowiest ever winter, has seen 280″.
