Who doesn’t like a challenge, especially where you can win stuff?

Finnish company Suunto is launching its annual ‘Suunto Vertical Week’ on February 27, 2023. Suunto is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of sports watches and compasses. Suunto Vertical Week is a challenge in which everyone can share their progress via the Suunto App in their public Instagram account to win a Suunto 9 Peak Pro GPS watch.

This challenge is for you regardless of your fitness level, experience, or sport. The challenge is about pushing your limits and reaching new heights physically and mentally. The challenge can be completed by running, riding, skiing, walking, or climbing. All human-powered activities are allowed and have to be completed between February 27 and March 5 to count.

All you need to participate is to download the Suunto App to track your activities. You can sync your Suunto App account with their partner services, like Strava, Training Peaks, Relive, and Fatmap, and reach your friends there, too. A purchase is not necessary.

  • To participate, post a photo of your Vertical Week experience using the Suunto App’s data overlays on Instagram between February 27 and March 6, 2023, and tag it with @suunto and #verticalweek
  • Your account settings must allow for all your posts to be public and, thus, viewable by Suunto.
  • The three most inspiring posts will be chosen as winners. The Suunto jury will select the winners, and the outcome shall be final.

Suunto’s Vertical Week is also an opportunity for nations to go head to head to see who achieves the most vertical. Since 2016 nations have battled for the top spot to see who can accumulate the most vertical meters. In 2022, 125,000 people participated in the #verticalweek, up from 70,000 in the 2021 fall edition and 49,000 in the 2021 spring edition.

Last year, 86 Suunto community members climbed more than 10,000 m (32,808 ft) over the week. That’s up from 59 in fall 2021 and only nine in spring 2022. Do you think you can help beat last year’s record? Then join the #verticalweek challenge. For further information, visit the Suunto website and check the terms and conditions before entering.
