Jones Pass, CO Backcountry Report: Summer is Knocking

I had to take advantage of the nice weather and excellent coverage one more time this holiday weekend.

In the proceeding three days conditions in the high country have gone from post winter storm, to early spring, to late spring early summer. 

Jones Pass saw a good freeze last night night but it didn’t stick around long today. Last night even saw a slight dusting of new snow at tree line and above.

There was no ice present in the snow which was generally mashed potatoes and elephant snot.

Another round of snow is on the way for the high country. Temperatures are projected to warm up significantly at the end of the week.
