June Mountain Ski Area in the eastern Sierra Nevada, CA, closed on Sunday, April 9, 2023.

June Mountain was purchased by Mammoth in 1986, who decided in 2012 to discontinue operations because it had failed to make money in the previous 26 years. After much uproar by the citizens of June Lake and initiatives and investments by Mono County, Mammoth invested in new lift infrastructure and snowmaking, and the ski resort reopened the following year. June Mountain season pass holders will have access to Mammoth for the remainder of the 22/23 season.
