Kelly Slater on Brian Gumbel’s Real Sports (HBO Sports)

Kelly Slater is Earth’s best surfer and he’s from Florida which has some of the world’s worst surf.  Anyone who surfs wants to get into his head a bit more and figure out how he became who he is.  I know I do.  I’m such a kook that I bought his board and his fins last year just in case that would help me surf better. I’d probably be better off just focusing on surfing more instead of trying to be like Kelly.

But, how can we not wanna be like Kelly.  What he’s done in the surfing world is unprecedented (youngest to win the tour, oldest to win the tour, most tour wins) and at 41, he’s still dominating the World Championship Tour.

Most surfers are going to be pretty curious what Kelly has to say about surfing and what he thinks made him great.  I know I wanna hear every word.
