Blubbering and sobbing in the car ride to the mountain.
Tears running down my cheeks…
The best character in my new favorite book, “Lonesome Dove,” died on my drive to the mountain.

I’m still a bit shook – that’s how good this book is…
6ºF at the car.
0ºF at the top of the gondola.

I was hoping for sun, but the classic Canadian clouds had other ideas.
At the top of the Stairway chair, I was over it.
Exhausted, tired, and sleepy, I would have gone home.

If I were alone, I’d have gone home for sure.
Ben said, “Nope, we ain’t goin’ home.”
He forced me to ski backcountry, and I’ll always be forever grateful.

The snow was still stupendous.
Deep, dry, and “As cold as a witch’s titty,” as my mom used to say.
The powder was explosive.

We drained it as low as we could, and it took me a while to get outta there.
I need a rest day, and it’s just not coming…
A few more days around here, then a 7-day hut trip with 13 buddies, then Revelstoke, then back over here to Kicking Horse.

This was day #8 in a row of blow your hair back powder here.
Feeling grateful.
Thanks, BC!
