Report from December 25, 2025 – Christmas Day
I was alone.
No friends, no family, just me, Santa, and a miracle deep, sunny, powder day in BC.
I started conservatively off the backside into the sunshine.

The snow sparkled as I hooted, slashed, and popped off pillows.
The whole experience was immaculate.
I was as high as a Christmas kite on the whole affair.

I was the only one on the backside and it took me a long time to set the skin track and climb out.
Once out, the sun still shone.
I climbed higher into more challenging terrain and studied what others had already done there.

Pit data and overall observations gave me the confidence to try a new chute.
I dropped into a chute full of perfect snow and a rippable angle.
Not too steep and not too mellow.

The light was tough, but the skiing was amazing.
From there, I climbed again to try another new chute.
I pushed it a bit too far on this one.

Too steep, too tight, too dark.
I made 4 turns, then had to pull over for the sluff.
The sluff ruined the pinner part of the chute, leaving me jump turning in steep runnelled terrain.

The apron was not what I’d anticipated.
The left side of the chute held flutes and spins that I couldn’t see in the darkness.
A wild one for sure and I was happy to cruise the deep snow of the apron.

From there, I sent it home with a big, fat, sloppy smile.
An incredible Christmas by any standard.
Thanks, BC!
