Lake Tahoe, CA reached its average annual precipitation of 60.94″ on January 18th.  Wow!

A ‘Water Year’ in California begins on October 1st and ends on September 31st.

Of all the precipiation that has fallen at UC Berkeley’s Central Sierra Snow Lab at 6,900′ on Donner Summit, CA, 47% of it has fallen as rain and 53% has fallen as snow.

We can’t help wishing that about 90% of that had fallen as snow…

“Cumulative precipitation as of February 9, 2017 = 2120 mm (83.46″). 47 percent of this fell as rain, 53 percent as snow. Our station’s average annual precipitation (1548 mm, 60.94″) was reached on January 18.” – UC Berkeley Snow Lab, today
