In case you hadn’t heard, California is having a great start to the season. Snowstorms measured in feet rather than inches, huge powder days, chest-deep conditions, and face shots have been the norm since winter 2022/23 began.

To put that into perspective, Tahoe Fund claims that the Lake Tahoe area has seen more snow already this season than the entire 2014-15 season. Wow.

Today’s Fun Fact: According to our friends at OpenSnow, we have already received more snow than the entire 2014 – 2015 season, and we are only halfway through December. After a series of big storms, the snowpack is currently over 200% of average for the date. Don’t stop those snow dances just yet!

The actual ski resorts aren’t there yet (e.g. Palisades Tahoe saw 193″ in 2014/15 and has seen 163″ so far this season), but a couple of storms before New Year should easily see them surpass 2014/15.

If skiing Tahoe is on your bucket list, now might be the time to make that trip.

  1. Well yah don’t follow science like not getting vaccinated, better just to believe what ya read on the metaverse cause its all truth, Elon and all.
An where did you receive your doctorate degree from? Oh right youre just soooo much smarter than everyone else.

  2. The 14/15 season was a drought year and one of the worst. Bad comparison. Plus there may not be any more big stroms until possible January 20th. By then we will be at normal or below average. Last year looked great after December and then it went barren for all of January and February. Lets hop that doesnt happen again. We have a good base now. ya it’s a bit early. We have had some good days and a couple of really good days. It takes alot of snow to fill in the Sierra before you can ride safely.
