Report from July 25th, 2014

I was a bit shocked when i arrived at Las Leñas, I have never seen so little snow here in the past 6 years. But my friends soon assured my that up high there was still good powder to be found (Torreciallas, Entre Rios etc.).

Not sure that i wanted to commit to a season pass on my first day two of my friends and me decided to go touring at lower elevation on the other side of the valley not using any lifts. There is a very sheltered area mostly south facing called la Oficina that usually holds really good snow.

From far away it didn’t look so promising but once we started touring up the face (that has AK like terrain, lots of fun features, small couloirs and spines) we realized that the snow was still in great shape and powder. We got a couple of good short runs in and the snow was great, dry sugary powder.
