California’s Lassen Volcanic National Park Highway 89 from the northwest (Manzanita Lake) entrance to the Devastated Area parking lot is scheduled to open on Saturday, May 11. Sunny skies are in the forecast. Visitors can enjoy spring activities in the Manzanita Lake area or spring snow conditions in the Devastated Area or the southwest area of the park.

Visitors can drive ten miles between the park’s northwest entrance and the Devastated Area. Download the NPS App before visiting to learn more about the park. Then, select Lassen Volcanic NP Highway under Self-Guided Tours to listen to the audio files corresponding to numbered posts along the highway.
Work on opening campgrounds continues. The Manzanita Lake Campground is scheduled to open on Friday, May 24. Reservations are required and can be made on Recreation.gov. Snow-clearing operations continue in the southwest section of the park. Follow the progress in the south by checking the Road Clearing Operator Log. The Kohm Yah-mah-nee Visitor Center is now open seven days a week, from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
