Well, it was our last powder day of the season, at least. It’s really been surprising how cold and snowy it’s been this late in the year. In past seasons, this time of year is hot, sunny, and slushy. This year, it’s been cold and snowy.
A cold, sneaker, 18-inch powder storm rolled through town on Thursday night and left Catedral ski resort in Bariloche in prime condition. Friday was deep and great all over. Saturday was stellar in La Laguna. Even Sunday had some quality leftover powder for us.
The photos in this post are all from Saturday when we simply skied La Laguna laps all day. We even did a couple drops on the “Seth Morrison wall-ride” (he skis it in Ordinary Skier).
Our season has some to an end here in Bariloche, Argentina. The mountain will be open until October 14th and this year, it’ll definitely be worth staying to the end. Normally, by the time September ends, I’ve been skiing slush for weeks and I’m ready for home. This year, there’s still powder in the hills and it feel very wrong to be leaving…
I can’t wait to come back next year.
The forecast for Bariloche is showing some warm temps this week, then cooling off for the weekend. I think at this point, the people of Bariloche are ready for good spring conditions. It looks like they’ll get ‘em.
CATEDRAL FORECAST:
Can we have that up north now please?
