Jeff Leger aka Dr. Huckinstuff is a Jackson Hole, WY native who is known as the voice behind the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort snow report and for sending it BIG off of cliffs in the Teton Mountains. Leger has sent over 100+ classic cliffs in Jackson Hole, and you may have even seen a video of him from last season when he launched a massive front flip into Corbets Couloir during the Kings & Kings of Corbet’s competition (video attached below). However, tragedy has recently struck as his latest stunt nearly took his life.

Leger was seriously injured last Saturday, January 18, when entering the S & S Couloir at Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. Ski patrol packed him out from the couloir and he was later airlifted from a hospital in Jackson, WY to a level 1 trauma center in Salt Lake City, Utah for immediate surgery. He broke 9 bones and his condition was critical. His brother, Christian, has issued a statement on a gofundme page that he started for Jeff.

Christian said:

“On Saturday January 18th, Jeff Leger attempted to be the first to enter the S & S couloir in the decade of the 2020’s. He has always been very careful about his landings all these years, but this time he calculated a deeper base incorrectly.

He suffered multiple fractures including his femur, hip, pelvis, a vertebrae and 5 ribs. He was airlifted from Jackson to Salt Lake to receive appropriate treatment and will have an extended stay in the Hospital in Utah. His first surgery is today (Sunday) and is expected to last 5 hours.

Jeff’s wife Seana and daughter Lucy will undoubtedly need to care for him for quite a while.  She will miss a bunch of work and coverage for Lucy too. The stress of this injury is a lot on the family, so alleviating some of the fin burden is something we can all help with!”

At the time of this writing, Leger’s gofundme page has has raised nearly $18,000 of its $15,000 dollar goal. An update regarding his brother’s condition was also provided by Christian earlier today, Sunday, January 20:

“I just spoke with Mitch Frankel who is with Seana and Jeff in Utah. He gave me the most recent update. Yesterday’s surgery was to fix his femur, hip etc. and lasted over 5 hours but went really well! He then had another surgery today on his ribs which also went well. He is still in ICU (probably until tomorrow) but they are optimistic that he will make a full recovery. The goal is for him to be back home in the village in a week or so. Thank you, everyone for the prayers and generosity that you have shown for Jeff and his family. They have a long road and this support will enable them to focus on Jeff’s recovery first. I will try to update everyone as often as I hear from the hospital. I can’t express my gratitude in words- thank you all!”

By donating to the gofundme page, anyone can help in the Jackson Hole cliff-hucking legend’s speedy recovery, and we at SnowBrains strongly encourage everyone to do so. Get well soon Jeff!
