Olympic champion Lindsey Vonn marked a decade of work through her namesake foundation this week, celebrating ten years of programs that support girls from underserved communities with free camps, mentorship, and scholarships. The Lindsey Vonn Foundation, founded in 2015, has awarded more than $1 million in scholarships since 2017, offering up to $5,000 each to help girls ages 10 to 18 pursue athletic or enrichment opportunities. Its signature #STRONGgirls camps are designed to build confidence, resilience, and life skills, and are provided at no cost to participants.
At an anniversary fundraiser, Vonn credited staff, volunteers, sponsors, and community members for the foundation’s longevity. “We couldn’t do it without all of the support from literally everyone,” she wrote in a Facebook post following the event. “It means so much to me and especially to the young women the foundation serves.”
The ski racer said the work is personal, rooted in her own experiences navigating challenges on and off the slopes. The programs, which she helped design, aim to create opportunities for girls of all backgrounds to grow as learners, athletes, and individuals. From small mentorship sessions to large-scale summer camps, the foundation’s reach has steadily expanded over the past decade. The 10-year milestone is a clear indicator of the foundation’s success in helping girls who might otherwise lack access to financial resources, training, or community support. “Cheers to paying it forward for the next generation,” Vonn wrote.
