Lindsey Vonn has apparently decided that it is time to stop the guessing. The four-time Olympic medalist went Instagram official with French ski racer Matthieu Bailet this week, sharing a series of 19 holiday photographs from France that gradually turn what had been months of speculation into something impossible to misinterpret.

The first photograph is almost a decoy. Bailet stands on a rock in the sea, half in the shadow, overlooking the French Riviera as Vonn dives into the water below. At first glance, he could simply be another person enjoying the view.

The next few photographs feature Vonn alone or with friends, but by picture eight, the plot thickens. Vonn and Bailet are pictured arm in arm at the shallow end of a pool. He could be “just a friend,” but interest is piqued.

Picture nine features two champagne glasses, foreshadowing the big reveal. Picture 10 briefly returns to Vonn’s solo gym content, followed by picture 11 of Vonn in her car, before the picture that says it all. The next image shows Vonn and Bailet kissing in the same pool, and this is also the first photograph in the series in which Vonn tags Bailet.

If you made it that far, you got your reward.

The couple appears together again later in the series, with picture 15 returning to the same rock from the opening image. This time there is no mystery about who the man standing behind Vonn is, as Bailet hugs her from behind.

After several more holiday photographs, including appearances from Vonn’s King Charles Spaniel, Chance, the series ends with Vonn and Bailet lying together in netting above a swimming area in the Riviera, boats bobbing in the background.

The soundtrack makes the message even harder to miss. Vonn chose Olivia Dean’s “So Easy (To Fall in Love)” for the 19-picture series, a particularly fitting soundtrack for what appears to be the couple’s first public relationship announcement.

The post comes about four months after Vonn and Bailet were first linked publicly. In May, People reported that the pair had been spending time together in New York and were “getting to know each other.” They were photographed together around the city, including after attending the Broadway musical The Outsiders. At the time, neither skier had publicly confirmed a relationship, although their appearances together and interactions on social media quickly fueled speculation.

Now, with a kiss, an embrace, a holiday together and a romantic soundtrack all making the same Instagram carousel, the speculation appears to be over.

Vonn has had several high-profile relationships over the years, including with fellow athletes and sports figures. She married former professional skier Thomas Vonn in 2007 before they divorced in 2011, and later dated golf star Tiger Woods from 2013 to 2015. She was then linked to former Los Angeles Rams assistant coach Kenan Smith, followed by a relationship with NHL star P.K. Subban, to whom she became engaged in 2019 before they split in 2020. Most recently, Vonn dated Lobos 1707 founder Diego Osorio from 2021 until their split in early 2025.

Who Is Matthieu Bailet?

Bailet slots nicely into the series of high profile partners. The 30-year-old Frenchman is an active World Cup speed skier who competes primarily in downhill and super-G. Born April 23, 1996, Bailet resides in Nice and is like Vonn a HEAD Rebels Worldcup athlete. He burst onto the World Cup scene at 19 after winning the 2016 Junior World Championships, awarding him a starting spot on the World Cup. He has now been competing at World Cup level for more than a decade and owns one individual World Cup podium, finishing second in the super-G at Saalbach, Austria, in March 2021.

He has also represented France at the Olympic Winter Games, making his Olympic debut in downhill at Beijing 2022. His World Cup career includes multiple top-10 finishes in downhill and super-G, including a fifth-place finish in the 2025 Val Gardena super-G. FIS records 100-plus World Cup starts across his career.

Bailet was recently racing in Chile in September. He finished runner-up in both downhill races at La Parva on September 1 and 2 before finishing second in the September 4 South American Cup super-G in Chile. The La Parva speed competition brought together an international field preparing for the 2026-27 season.

For two people who have spent much of their lives traveling the world on skis, the relationship may be about as on-brand as it gets.

  1. If we are talking actual sports, isn’t it way more interesting, that LV once again posted a pic from snowy mountains? She repeatedly said, that she will have ACL surgery in November, which would rule her out for next season, but maybe she will postpone the surgery and race without ACL, if she feels comfortable after testing and training in the coming weeks.
