Lindsey Vonn, back on the world cup circuit for only two races, crashed in downhill training in Cortina, Italy over the weekend. Vonn Shed light on the incident, posting the above picture and “crash test check” on her instagram later that day. She also assured fans that her arm was still in one piece and she would be racing on January 28th. Vonn is recently recovered from a severe arm fracture and has only been competing again since mid-month.
However, Vonn also fell during the downhill on the 28th – in the same spot as the day before no less. It’s unlike the most successful female ski racer of all time to crash two days in a row, let alone two days in a row in the same exact spot. Vonn was “still happy to be in one piece” but lamented that she’s “too old to be hitting the fence that hard.” Don’t worry, we don’t blame the 32 year old racer for being a little sore.
While some headlines claimed Vonn is crashing more than she’s winning, we’re impressed that she won the downhill at Garmisch (her 77th world cup victory), after being back for just two races.
