Athletes from the USA pulled in 28 medals (9 gold, 7 silver, 12 bronze) at the 2014 Winter Olympic Games.  This is 9 medals less than we brought home from Vancouver in 2010.

The USA was stronger in Freestyle Skiing than in any other discipline.  We brought home 7 medals in Freestyle skiing including a sweep of the Ski Slopestyle competition.

The most golds were won in Freestyle Skiing (3), Snowboard (3), and Alpine Skiing (2).  We think that it’s very cool that our strongest Olympic sports are skiing and snowboarding.

Some are saying the the USA had a bad showing at these Olympics.  We disagree.  28 medals sounds like  a strong showing.

Team USA’s most prominent American Olympians—Shaun White, Bode Miller, Shani Davis—won a total of one bronze medal between them. The Americans won no medals in speedskating for the first time since 1984 and no individual figure skating medals for the first time since 1936. The men’s hockey team, the inheritors of the Miracle on Ice legacy, was outscored by a total of 6-0 in the medal rounds. – Time Magazine
