On April 25, 2025, Loveland Ski Area announced it will be replacing its 42-year-old fixed-grip double chair with a modern Leitner-Poma fixed-grip quad. Although Lift 7 is designed to seat four skiers or riders, Loveland will keep the capacity at three people per chair to maximize comfort and space for those learning how to ski or snowboard. Lift 7 ย is located in the Loveland Valley which is an area with mellow terrain for those learning how to ski or snowboard.
Loveland Ski Area operates on the Arapahoe National Forest, which means the USDA Forest Service must grant Loveland approval to move forward with the lift replacement. On April 23, the USDA Forest Service approved the Lift 7 replacement and Loveland confirmed that installation will begin during the summer of 2025. The new Lift 7 is scheduled to be ready for the 2025/2026 winter season.

Lift 7 is a short chair, covering only 129 vertical feet. The upgraded lift will help increase uphill capacity and let those learning pack in more turns throughout the day. For those who cherish Lift 7, a select number of chairs from the retired lift will be available for purchase via a lottery limited to 2025/2026 season pass holders and employees. Loveland will release the details for the lottery this summer, and it’s not too late to pick up a pass for the 2025-2026 season.
Additionally on the Loveland Valley side, the ski area will be grading and reshaping the Zig Zag trail, a green run off Lift 3, to provide better snow retention and flow for skiers and riders.ย Later down the road for the 2026-2027 winter season, Loveland plans to expand its parking by creating an additional lot to accommodate peak periods during the season. Loveland issued a press release covering the new Lift 7 and additional upgrades.
Aside from all the news about the future winter seasons, Loveland Basin closing day is May 11. There’s still time to get spring turns in and enjoy the tail end of the ski season in the northern hemisphere.
