An already stacked team just got another big-time name.
Popular ski brand Armada recently announced the addition of American freestyle skier Mac Forehand to its team. With the 2026-27 competition season right around the corner, the Norwalk, Connecticut, native will have new skis underneath his feet as he looks to his long run of contest success extending back to 2022.
“I think Armada is everybody’s dream ski brand,” Forehand told Newschoolers Magazine. “There’s so much culture involved with this brand, from Tanner and Henrik’s iconic X Games moments to some of the best video parts ever released with Bdog and Sammy. The depth in this team is like no other ski brand out there.”
Founded back in 2002 in Truckee, California, Armada was one of the original freestyle-focused skiing brands. Freestyle pioneers including Tanner Hall and Hans Smith founded the brand, wanting to build a rider-driven company focused on creativity. Over the years, Armada has grown to become one of the most popular and well-respected ski brands in the world, manufacturing dozens of skis catered to all types of freestyle skiers.
Now skiing for Armada, Forehand joins a team stacked with some of the world’s greatest freestyle skiers. Henrik Harlaut, Tanner Hall, Max Moffat, and Olivia Asselin are just a few of the legendary skiers on the Armada team. Signing Forehand to the team adds another successful star to the list. The 25-year-old is fresh off the biggest accomplishment of his career — a big air silver medal from the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. To go along with his Olympic medal, Forehand also holds two X Games gold medals, six total X Games medals, a World Championship silver medal, and two International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) Crystal Globes — awarded to the discipline winners of the World Cup circuit. Both of Forehand’s Crystal Globes are from slopestyle competition.
Before heading to Armada, the skier had previously ridden for the Chamonix-based ski company Faction. He spent a good portion of his career on Faction skis, signing with the company back in 2017 and remaining on the team for nine years. Forehand was featured in major Faction team films like The Collective (2019), Roots (2021), and Abstract (2023).
Armada now becomes Forehand’s sponsor for both skis and boots. Currently at training camp in Saas-Fee, Switzerland, he is rocking the ARV 88 and ARV 94 skis, along with the AR ONE 130 boot.
The signing of Forehand marks the most recent big move Armada has made in the past year. Last fall, the brand announced its expansion into snowboarding for the first time. Alongside manufacturing boards, the brand put together an impressive snowboard team to match that of its ski team. The snowboard team includes popular street riders like Mike Liddle and even Olympians like Juliette Pelchat.
“Mac has been on our radar for a long time now,” Armada Vice President Tom Suesskock told Newschoolers. “He’s one of the most complete skiers out there, competing at the highest level, filming full segments and putting in his time in the backcountry. That variety is a huge part of Armada’s DNA and something we look for in an athlete. Most importantly, Mac loves skiing as much as anyone you’ll meet and is just an all-around great person to know and work with. We couldn’t be more stoked to welcome him on the program.”
With new skis and boots on his feet, Forehand will look to continue his recent stream of success in competition during the 2026-27 season. He was recently drafted fifth overall by X Games Club Whistler at the inaugural X Games Winter Draft. In addition to representing XC Whistler at X Games League events this winter, Forehand will also compete in the World Cup circuit as he has in previous years.
“Just so hyped to finally be a part of Armada and really looking forward to growing with this legendary brand,” Forehand said in the Newschoolers article.
