Report from May 11, 2022

We awoke today to a bluebird powder day.

It felt weird to wake up at 6am for it…

But the mountain opens at 7:30am right now!

We were in line right at 7:30am when it opened and we went straight to wait for Chair 23.

We could tell that the snow generally wasn’t gonna be deep or dense enough to keep us off the bottom, but we could also tell that there would be certain spots where it might be bottomless.

On our first run we went skiers left off 23 and the upper part was scratchy, but the middle and bottom were pretty good.

We were stoked.

It was a gorgeous day.

After a few runs of Chair 23 we hopped on the gondola and hit Climax to start it off.

It was pretty good.

The sun was starting to affect the snow at this point making it denser and keeping us off the bottom a bit more.

Climax skied well and we bumped over to Dave’s.

Daves was the most bottomless spot on the mountain today.

After Dave’s, we cruised a few groomers and called it a day by about 10am.

What a fun day at Mammoth!

There is so much snow here right now.

Much much more than this time last year.

I’m calling it right now:  Mammoth is going to extend and be open for at least a week or two in June!

  1. Looks like someone couldn’t wait for their comment to get approved. Two log ins with the same comment 20 minutes apart. Looks fishy to me.
