Mammoth Conditions Report | Live Music, Snow Volleyball, & Sick Spring Skiing

Soft snow!
Soft snow!

Mammoth Mountain was crushing it this weekend with live music, snow volleyball, meat on the grill, keg tossing, and of course, sick spring skiing. They’ve moved to a 7:30am-2:30pm spring schedule (Tahoe resorts, please take notice), which gave us 2 great days of skiing. Both days started with some firm corduroy, which quickly softened up to hero status by 9am.

The off piste skiing was skiing well by 9-930 and stayed soft and fun until 1130-12.

After 12, there were still very good turns on the groomers thanks to the salt cat, which was chugging along all day.

As the last resort standing in CA, Mammoth should be going out with a bang for their closing next weekend (also Memorial Day weekend). In addition to the resort, there are some great backcountry options nearby with Tioga and Sonora passes now open to car traffic. Bring out your bikinis and sunscreen and come shred some corn!
