The current sign has been there since October 2019 when it replaced the previous sign, which had stood for 21-years.

Since Sunday, a massive snowstorm has been battering the Sierra Nevada, dropping over five feet of snow on most ski resorts. Mammoth Mountain did not open yesterday, and several other resorts opened late as crews worked round the clock to ensure resorts and mountains were safe for guests.

The current snowfall is double what had fallen at the same time last year.
