Mammoth Mountain has four snowboarders ready to shred as the PyeongChang 2018 Olympic Games kicked off Friday!
This year Mammoth hometown athletes, Shaun White, Kelly Clark, Maddie Mastro, and Chloe Kim, all earned their spot on Team USA.
If you’re unfamiliar with these new and maybe not so new athletes we’ve got you covered.
1. Shaun White
Shaun White heads to PyeongChang with four Olympics under his belt. Since White’s first Olympics in 2006 he’s claimed two GOLD medals, and holds the record for the most X Games gold medals.
2. Kelly Clark
Kelly Clark is one of the most experienced athletes set to shred at PyeongChang, as she has competed in five Olympics. Throughout Clark’s sixteen year Olympic career she has earned herself one GOLD and two BRONZE medals.
3. Maddie Mastro
New kid on the block Maddie Mastro is making her mark in the snowboarding industry this year! Hot on the heels of qualifying for her first Olympics, this seventeen-year-old won her first X Games medal last month.
4. Chloe Kim
Chloe Kim, who qualified for the Olympics in 2014 but was too young to compete is now getting her shot at an Olympic medal. While PyeongChang will be Kim’s first Olympics, she’ll be competing fresh off a first place victory at the X Games.
