A chair on the Flying Bear chairlift at Attitash Mountain Resort, New Hampshire, detached and fell 20 feet on February 2, injuring a man, reports Peter Landsman at LiftBlog.
The incident occurred at approximately 12:15 p.m. Witnesses reported that the man was conscious and walking after the fall. Ski patrol attended to him before he was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Brandon Swartz, Attitash’s general manager, told The Boston Globe, “We can confirm an incident occurred on our Flying Bear chairlift today. The safety of our guests is our top priority, and we are investigating the incident”.

Responding to the scene, the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal’s Office indicated that a mechanical failure likely caused the chair to dislodge from the cable. The lift’s manufacturer has been contacted to assist with the investigation.
No other injuries were reported, and the remaining passengers were safely unloaded at the top of the lift. The Flying Bear lift remains closed pending the investigation’s conclusion.
Attitash Mountain Resort, owned by Vail Resorts, conducts daily lift inspections, and the New Hampshire Passenger Tramway Safety Board performs annual checks.

Was a few chairs behind when this happened. Some serious nightmare fuel.
