Skiers in France will not be required to be vaccinated this winter, but they will have to wear a mask while waiting in chairlift lines, Prime Minister Jean Castex said on Saturday.

Once they have boarded lifts skiers can remove their masks, unless they are in enclosed gondolas.

The Prime Minister did caveat that if the covid incidence rate rises above 200 new cases per 100,000 per week, then vaccinations will become mandatory in ski resorts.

Currently restaurants, long-distance public transport, and indoor events require vaccinations to enter.
