Mayor Tells Bostonians to Stop Jumping from Windows

After four huge storms have slammed Boston with 8 feet of snow, the city’s residents are starting to get a little stir-crazy. A new social media challenge has spread: the #BostonBlizzardChallenge has “daredevils” leaping from windows into the enormous snow piles below.

Mayor Martin Walsh made a statement earlier this week asking residents to “stop their nonsense” and act responsibly.“It’s a foolish thing to do and you could kill yourself,” he said.

Boston has received 96.3 inches this season, which ties the record for the second-snowiest season in history. With a total of 107.6 inches, 1995-1996 has long held the title of snowiest season on record.

“This isn’t Loon Mountain, this is the city of Boston,” added Mayor Walsh. “And the last thing we want to do is respond to an emergency call where somebody jumped out of the window because they thought it was a funny thing to do.”
