MISSING HIKER ALERT: A 62-year-old southbound solo hiker from Florida named James (trailname is “Tinman”) is missing. He is 6’4″ 200lbs. His last known location was at Vermilion Valley Resort on 10/4 where he picked up a 6-day resupply and emailed his wife.

His plan was to leave the JMT at LeConte in Kings Canyon NP and hike Bishop Pass trail to South Lake Trailhead to pick up next resupply in Bishop on 10/9 – his resupply has not been picked up yet.

He may have a tan sunhat, olive green pack, yellow or orange tent, red hiking poles. He’s an experienced hiker [section hiked AT] but hasn’t been on this section of trail before.

Anyone who was in the area since 10/4 is asked to call the NPS tipline at 888-653-0009. The response is being coordinated between Inyo & Fresno County Sheriff Departments and Sequoia & Kings Canyon NP. Thanks!
