After closing for the season on Sunday 11th April, Mission Ridge Ski & Board Resort, WA, announced yesterday that thanks to four feet of fresh snow they will be reopening the next three weekends.

Mission Ridge now plans to open for skiers and snowboarders on Friday and Saturday as well as the following Saturday and Sunday, and the final Saturday in April in two weeks.

Yesterday’s full announcement is below:

Thanks to the extraordinary efforts of our teams out on the mountain we are now targeting a midday opening tomorrow, Friday, April 15th. We’ll plan to operate Chairs 1 and 2 until 4 pm. There will be limited services across the mountain. Opening tomorrow will be dependent on the completion of avalanche mitigation efforts, snow removal, and other pre-opening preparations. We will not open until these efforts have been completed and our teams have the time they need to finish this work. The target will be for a noon opening and we will update between then and now if that timeframe changes. We understand that everyone is very excited. We are too! It’s not every day you get 4 to 5 feet of snow in less than a week. But we ask for everyone to work with our teams tomorrow and Saturday. Please be patient and anticipate that the plan may change.

Avalanche risk remains considerable. Deep snow immersion/snow suffocation risk remains extremely high. Always ski and snowboard with a partner. Stay in visual and verbal contact with them. Avoid tree wells and respect all rope lines and trail closures. Remember that all this new snow is sitting on a base that barely allowed us to be open last weekend. Our teams will be assessing and monitoring terrain and trail status may change throughout the day.

As a recap, we will target a noon opening on Friday, April 15th. We will then re-open on Saturday, April 16th from 9 am to 4 pm. We will be closed Sunday, April 17th. We will not open on Sunday to allow our staff to spend time with their families. Additional open days will be April 23rd, 24th, and 30th.
