Due to extreme weather conditions, Monarch Mountain, CO, will be closed today, December 15, 2021. After a dry start to the season, Monarch  is one of only a handful of resorts that don’t have snowmaking, the resort opened for the season on Saturday 11th.

Forecasts predict sustained high winds of over 80mph, creating hazardous conditions for operating ski lifts and making travel difficult. All operations at Monarch will be closed for the day, including uphill access.

“This was a difficult decision to make, however, we have to look out for the safety of our guests and our staff.”

– Safety Manager/VP Mountains Ops Scott Pressly

Monarch will reopen on Thursday, December 16.
