Report from Sunday, April 13, 2025.

Sunday, April 13, was Monarch Mountain, Colorado’s final day of the 2024-25 season.ย

The day started strong with great spirit and many costumes.ย

There was a high of 48ยฐF with mild wind under blue skies.ย

The Breezeway lift and all of Monarch’s terrain were open, except the hike to Mirkwood Basin.

Some stuck to groomers, others tried the Gunbarrel Challenge, and I lapped my favorite runs one last time.

Other than a few breaks at the lodge, I hit Sheer-Rocko every lap of the day.ย

I knew I couldn’tย hit my favorite cliffs until next season, so I lapped it until the last chair.ย

The vibes were unmatched, and cheers were abundant.ย

We threw snowballs, took slushy falls, and soaked up the sun.ย

At one o’clock, the Gunbarrel Challenge began.ย

Competitors scrambled up Monarch’s historic run, sporting different techniques to win the challenge.ย

Some had backpacks, others had ski skates, but everyone was working hard under the sun.ย

I continued to ski under the Panorama lift.ย

Taking in the scenery and appreciating every run.ย

This season at Monarch was excellent, with over 200 inches of snow and 142 days of skiing.ย

This summer at Monarch will be busy with the No Name expansion and other projects.ย

Uphill access will not be allowed this spring due to the extensive work happening on the mountain.ย

The 2025-26 season will be an exciting one, so get your passes now!
