Conditions Report from December 6, 2025

Monarch Mountain, Colorado, opened for the season on Tuesday, December 2.

The resort received snow every day since opening, with over 20 inches falling in the past seven days.

Four inches were reported overnight when I arrived Saturday, but conditions felt much deeper than that across the mountain.

The mountain had five lifts and 25 runs open when I arrived, with rope drops and refills all day long.

By the end of the storm and ski patrol safety checks, there were 48 runs open on the mountain.

The expert snow management team at Monarch has created some of the best skiing conditions in Colorado right now.

The powder off of Panorama reminded me why it is my favorite lift in the state.

I got fresh tracks in six or more inches of powder, helping to pack down the runs and never hitting anything more than shrubs.

I spent a lot of the day skiing Short ‘N Sweet down to Berry’s which seemed to be the grail of the day.

Berry’s, formally known as Lower No Name, was almost skiing like a chute, with deep powder and interesting hits back into the “chute.”

Ski patrol also opened Tango and other gladed areas off the left side of Panorama.

It was almost unbelievable how filled in some areas were, with deep powder and not a single core shot all day.

Runs off of Garfield and Pioneer also skied very well.

Traversing over to the north-facing runs proved worth while.

Romp was starting to mogul up, and Tele Alley provided perfectly angled mellow powder skiing.

Ski Patrol was working hard to open more runs under the liftline, and all runs on Monarch’s front side are currently listed as open!

The new “Ricochet” terrain park and renamed runs under Garfield have filled in nicely and should be skiing well this week.

Difficult runs under Panorama are also open with hard work from ski patrol.

Monarch has had an incredible start to the season, and we are highly anticipating the grand opening of the new terrain expansion.

Fantastic quality-of-life changes have been made across the mountain, and the community is thriving.

Weather forecasts show no significant storms over the next 10 days, but Monarch’s all-natural snow and expert management should keep conditions enjoyable until the next storm.

Monarch is currently offering some of the most terrain in the state, and is working hard to open more.

We have a great season ahead of us!
