Monarch Mountain, CO, to End Season With Legendary Kayaks on Snow Event

Monarch Mountain, CO, will once again host its signature event, Kayaks on Snow. This year’s annual closing weekend competition will be Saturday, April 16, 2022. Contestants in kayaks race head-to-head elimination rounds in groups of four down a specially designed course on the Freeway run with berms, banks, and bumps, ending in an icy pond.

Registration for Kayaks on Snow will take place the day of the competition at the Monarch season pass desk between 9-10 am for $40 per competitor. Competitors must be 18 years or older, have kayaking experience, sign a release of liability waiver, and supply their kayak, PFD, helmet, and carabiner. Helmet facemasks are encouraged.

Kayaks on Snow will begin at 11 am and can be viewed, free of charge, from the base area at Monarch Mountain.
