It is that time of the year to think beyond one’s self and to do good for the less fortunate in our community. And it is not just people getting into the holiday spirit, your local ski areas are joining in as well.

On Monday, December 9th Monarch Mountain is celebrating community and its 80th anniversary by offering free $94 lift tickets in exchange for non-perishable food items or cash donations. The food donations will be shared between the Salida Grainery and the 1st Presbyterian Church of Salida food banks. Cash donations will go to the Boys and Girls Clubs of Chaffee County.

“Last year, through the generosity of our skiing and snowboarding guests, Monarch collected close to 8,000 lbs of food for the local food banks and $2,251 in cash for the Boys and Girls Club,” said Kathryn Wadsworth, event coordinator. “We’re excited to offer a free day of skiing again this season and encourage everyone to be generous with their contributions towards a free lift ticket in support of our local organizations that are so important to our community.”

Come enjoy a day of free skiing and help them beat last year’s donations!
