Mont Tremblant, QC, Announces CAD 42.5 Million Expansion With New Ski Area & High-Speed Quad

Mont Tremblant, Quebec, is expanding its ski terrain with a CAD 42.5 million (USD 30.6 million) investment that will add 62 acres of skiable terrain, eight new trails, and a new high-speed quad chairlift for the 2027-28 winter season. The project, called Timber Summit, will create a new ski sector on Tremblant while increasing the resort’s hourly lift capacity by 10%. The expansion will be accompanied by a separate beginner learning area at the base of Versant Soleil, scheduled to open for the upcoming 2026-27 winter season.

The centerpiece of the expansion will be the development of Timber Summit, adding 62 acres of new skiable terrainserved by a new detachable high-speed quad chairlift. The new terrain will feature eight trails, with seven descending toward Versant Soleil and one connecting toward Tremblant’s North Side. The terrain mix will be weighted toward beginner and intermediate skiers:

• 35% beginner
• 60% intermediate
• 5% expert

All of the new terrain will receive snowmaking coverage.

The new sector will provide a vertical drop of 428 meters (1,404 feet) toward Versant Soleil. Access will come via the Timber Express, a detachable high-speed quad with a capacity of 2,400 skiers per hour. The lift will measure 1,800 meters (5,906 feet) long and climb 423 meters (1,388 feet). It will feature 125 chairs and use lift technology comparable to Tremblant’s Lowell Thomas Express.

The new lift and terrain are expected to increase Tremblant’s overall hourly lift capacity by 10%.

But skiers won’t have to wait until 2027-28 to see the first part of the project. Tremblant will open a new dedicated beginner learning area at the base of Versant Soleil during the 2026-27 winter season. Located adjacent to the Casino Express Gondola, the new 1.1-acre (0.45-hectare) learning area is designed specifically for first-time skiers and Snow School programs. The terrain will have an average slope of approximately 13 degrees, providing a gentle environment for beginners to learn their first turns and build confidence. The area will feature a covered surface lift, or magic carpet, along with complete snowmaking coverage. It will operate on weekends and during peak periods.

Tremblant says the new learning area is intended to provide a dedicated progression space, allowing beginners to develop their skills before moving onto more challenging terrain elsewhere on the mountain.

The Timber Summit project is an evolution of Tremblant’s larger development vision first unveiled in 2020. Since the original concept was announced, the project has been revised and expanded. Tremblant says the increased investment reflects its long-term plans for the mountain and the continued development of Versant Soleil.

The resort also points to the confirmed presence of Club Med Tremblant as an important component of the continued growth of the sector.

Construction work is already underway, with the beginner area scheduled to welcome skiers during the 2026-27 season before Timber Summit opens for the 2027-28 winter season. When complete, the project will give Tremblant 62 additional acres of ski terrain, eight new trails, a high-speed quad, and a new beginner zone—expanding skiing opportunities across the mountain for skiers of a wide range of abilities.
