Mount Ashland Ski Area has officially closed for the season, capping off its longest winter in 30 years with a total of 318 inches of snowfall and one of the strongest turnouts in the mountainโ€™s history. The final lifts spun Sunday, April 27, as skiers and snowboarders soaked in spring conditions with a celebratory barbecue and beer garden. The closing day marked the latest the ski area has remained open since the early 1990s, a notable finish after a bumpy start in December when a fallen tree damaged the resortโ€™s primary Aerial chairlift, Kobi 5 News reports.

Despite the early-season setback, the mountain bounced back with consistent storms and deep powder days. According to General Manager Andrew Gast who spoke with Kobi 5 News, the ski area recorded its second-highest attendance on record.

Located in southern Oregonโ€™s Siskiyou Mountains, Mount Ashland is a nonprofit ski area known for its community roots and rugged terrain. The 2024โ€“25 season brought above-average snowfall to much of the Pacific Northwest, and Mount Ashland took full advantageโ€”staying open into the final weekend of April, well beyond its typical March wrap-up.

Looking ahead, Mount Ashland will switch gears for summer operations. Its Alpine Adventure youth camps launch in June, followed by Oktoberfest in September and a Halloween-themed mountaintop event in October.

Season passes for the 2025โ€“26 winter are already on sale at mtashland.com
