
Mount Ashland Ski Area has officially closed for the season, capping off its longest winter in 30 years with a total of 318 inches of snowfall and one of the strongest turnouts in the mountainโs history. The final lifts spun Sunday, April 27, as skiers and snowboarders soaked in spring conditions with a celebratory barbecue and beer garden. The closing day marked the latest the ski area has remained open since the early 1990s, a notable finish after a bumpy start in December when a fallen tree damaged the resortโs primary Aerial chairlift, Kobi 5 News reports.
Despite the early-season setback, the mountain bounced back with consistent storms and deep powder days. According to General Manager Andrew Gast who spoke with Kobi 5 News, the ski area recorded its second-highest attendance on record.
Located in southern Oregonโs Siskiyou Mountains, Mount Ashland is a nonprofit ski area known for its community roots and rugged terrain. The 2024โ25 season brought above-average snowfall to much of the Pacific Northwest, and Mount Ashland took full advantageโstaying open into the final weekend of April, well beyond its typical March wrap-up.
Looking ahead, Mount Ashland will switch gears for summer operations. Its Alpine Adventure youth camps launch in June, followed by Oktoberfest in September and a Halloween-themed mountaintop event in October.
