Mount Bohemia, Michigan, just announced the completion of six new gladed ski runs ahead of the upcoming 2026-27 ski season.
The six new trails won’t be concentrated in one singular area of the mountain, as one might expect from a terrain expansion of this magnitude. Rather, the runs are spread throughout different terrain pods across Mount Bohemia’s already large footprint, in what’s being dubbed the largest Midwest ski expansion of 2026.
Two of the new runs will parallel the Prospector trail in the far western reaches of the resort. Prospector is one of very few intermediate runs found anywhere at Mount Bohemia, a resort that caters almost exclusively to advanced and expert skiers. The addition of two new trails in this relatively low-angle area may increases the mountain’s blue terrain offerings, although official trail grades are not yet available.

Another new run will serve as a connection between Ghost Trail and Outer Limits. Ghost Trail currently serves as an intermediate run that skiers and riders can use to easily access the Outback zone on the backside of Mount Bohemia from the resort’s summit. The new run will allow guests to divert off Ghost Trail before entering the backside, routing instead into the frontside Outer Limits terrain. The addition will render frontside runs such as Mercury and Venus much more accessible from the summit.

Additionally, a new gladed run is set to be added to the Outer Limits terrain pod. It will be placed between Saturn and Uranus, adding more diversity to a zone that’s now more accessible than ever from the resort’s summit.
Finally, two new gladed runs will be added to the Bear Den terrain zone, which sits just east of the Honey Pot Hoist lift line, in the central part of the resort. These runs will parallel Grizzly Bear and Polar Bear, respectively, and will serve as two new options for those looking to get in quick laps under one of Mount Bohemia’s chairlifts.
This addition of six in-bounds ski runs actually only scratches the surface of Mount Bohemia’s ambitious expansion projects this offseason. In a move that will perhaps grab even more headlines, the Michigan resort added over 300 acres of skiable terrain to its Voodoo Mountain zone — a remote backcountry terrain pod located north of Mount Bohemia. As of 2026, Voodoo Mountain serves as the only location in North America where cat skiing can be found east of the Rocky Mountains.

Mount Bohemia’s 2026 summer expansions should help cement the resort’s position as one of the premier ski destinations in the Midwest. The Upper Peninsula ski area has already stood out for years, thanks to its regionally outrageous snow totals — nearly 300 inches per year — gnarly expert terrain, and a down-to-earth feel that’s increasingly hard to come by, given the ever-commercialized nature of the modern ski industry.
For those wanting a unique ski experience complete with low crowds and seemingly endless expert terrain, Mount Bohemia may be a premier option — not only in the Midwest, but in all of North America — especially given its newly bolstered cat skiing and in-bounds terrain. With season passes starting at just $99, the Michigan area offers about the most affordable off-the-beaten-path ski option on the continent.
