The Most Powerful Snowmaking System In The Northeast Roars To Life, As Opening Day Approaches
Mount Snow, VT has officially begun snowmaking operations for the 2019/2020 winter season. With temperatures falling through the weekend, Mount Snow’s team of snowmakers plan to continue to lay down a base on Cascade, Canyon, Free Fall, and River Run trails, ahead of opening day.
With more than $33M in snowmaking upgrades over the last three years, Mount Snow is proud to be the home of the most powerful snowmaking system in the Northeast. Snowmaking upgrades and expansion continued throughout the previous summer season, as crews from Mount Snow added snowmaking to three additional trails to cover 17 additional acres of terrain. These upgrades increased snowmaking coverage to 83% of the 600-acre resort in Southern Vermont’s Green Mountain National Forest, in its march toward eventually realizing 100% snowmaking coverage.
“It’s always exciting when we get to fire up our snowmaking operations for the first time of the season,” said Erik Barnes, Vice President and General Manager of Mount Snow. “People have really come to know Mount Snow as a snowmaking powerhouse over the years, and I can’t wait to see what our snowmakers can do, and to watch their efforts translate into trails opening all across the mountain, as we head towards Thanksgiving.”
Snowmaking expansion isn’t the only exciting news from this summer. Mount Snow is now Epic, as it joins the Vail Resorts family on the Epic Pass, following the Vail Resorts’ acquisition of all 17 resorts formerly owned and operated by Peak Resorts.
