190 Riders Stranded for 2-Hours When Lift Malfunctioned on Opening Weekend at Mount Snow, VT

Opening weekend at Mount Snow, VT was definitely one to remember for some when one of the ski lifts malfunctioned, leaving 190 skiers stranded for up to two hours before they were rescued.ย Ski patrol conducted a safe evacuation and all riders were evacuated safely.

“Mount Snow extends its apologies to the guests who were inconvenienced by this event,” the West Dover-based ski resort said in a statement.

The Challenger Lift, that serves more advanced terrainย on the North Face of the mountain, stopped running at 11:30 am Saturday. Guests were all evacuated by 1:40 pm, according to the statement.

The resort added that it “places the highest value on the safety of its guests,” and the Challenger lift was inspected following the incident.ย The lift reopened on Sunday without incident.
