For a brief moment, a daring mountain biker stole the show from the world’s best climbers.

Tuesday’s stage 10 at the Tour de France was all about the mountains with five categorized climbs, including three Cat. 1s and an HC ascent on the 158.5km run from Annecy to Le Grand-Bornand, reports Velo News.

On the climb up the day’s second mountain, Plateau des Glieres, viewers might have been surprised to see yellow jersey Greg Van Avermaet (BMC) in the break.

An even bigger shock was in store when TV cameras, positioned behind the eight-man breakaway, caught a rider streaking through the trees above the road on the right side. The mountain biker popped off a ramp on the right side of the road, timing his jump to perfection. He floated over the road as the breakaway passed beneath. The daring rider was even bold enough to throw a no-hander in midair.

In a flash, the race rolled on. And for a brief moment, fans got more entertainment than they’d bargained for in this stage of the Tour de France.
