A massive high-pressure dome is set to dominate the weather patterns, raising big questions for ski areas. Skiers and snowboarders in Utah, California, New Mexico, and parts of Colorado might need to prepare for a frustrating dry spell ahead, with spring-like warmth potentially destroying snowpacks.
While the southern and central Rockies face a winter timeout, the northern Rockies tell a different story. Expect the storm track to favor Wyoming, Montana, Idaho, the Pacific Northwest, interior BC, and Alberta with promising action that could deliver those deep turns we’ve missed. High pressure will block cold air and storms from the south while funneling them north.
Could spring skiing be just around the corner for some, or is a snowy resurgence possible later? Warm anomalies hint at high base temps, but patterns might shift after early April, sparking hope for late-season dumps.
