It was definitely a Happy New Year at Mt. Baker!  Hopefully 2016 brings more big storms and luckily, the forecast is calling for snow next week.  This week was full of sun and if you were willing to work for it, lots more powder.  Even Pan Dome had some leftovers on Saturday after the long holiday.  The groomers were fast and everything else was chalky or packed pow.

Baker still holds the deepest snowpack in North America at 104-140″.

While we enjoy the sun and wait for the next storm, lots of people are venturing out in the famous, untouched, powder-filled Baker backcountry.  It is phenomenal and known for deep pow and awesome lines right off the top of chair 8 where you can take multiple laps all day up a short boot-pack.  Please read the backcountry policy for all the details before entering the non-patrolled backcountry.
